A Long and Successful History

We specialise in providing a full range of representation services to professional accountants. We are able to advise, assist and represent accountants on a whole range of issues.

Service to the accountancy profession

Cope's have a long and successful history in accountant representation.

We are presently acting for over 30 accountants who have a variety of problems, ranging from an application for readmission to membership to appealing against decisions of exclusion from membership.

Complaint & Negligence Cases Disciplinary Tribunals Regulatory Cases

We can help with general advice and assistance for accountants as detailed below

If you have lost a client to other accountants
and you have been engaged in correspondence with these accountants concerning the provision of information, client books and papers or your own working papers. The matter cannot be resolved by correspondence and the new accountants are now threatening you with a complaint. We can advise/intervene.

If you have received correspondence from solicitors
acting for the liquidator of a former client company. They are raising a series of questions about the advice you have previously given. We will draft your reply.

If you have a practice problem
and have consulted the members’ handbook or bye-laws and cannot find the answer that you are looking for. We can assist in that regard.

Debt Recovery
We are frequently instructed by members of the accountancy profession to pursue clients in respect of outstanding fees, either in writing or, if no response, by way of legal proceedings. If, on the other hand, you wish to act in person, we can advise with regard to the preparation of the claim form and in the event of a defence or counterclaim from the former client.

Accountants’ Defence
Accountants’ Defence provides a service to its subscribing members (all of whom are practising, qualified accountants) with regard to complaint, regulatory, disciplinary, appeal and practice problems.
